Question Transfer full res pic from iphone to PC or email

I am allergic to Apple so I don't know the answer to this but I'm trying to help someone send me the full resolution pic they took on their iphone so we can print it out on an 8x10. When they send it to me from their phone, it's only like 800kb so it's not the full res. What are the most basic instructions to get them to send me the full res pic via email? Is iTunes still involved or can it be a USB to PC connection (no software) to download it before it can be emailed that way?

I found this video, but it's unclear whether the first 2 methods transfer full res - the software doesn't show the option.

iphone has an annoying habit of sending small pictures. I don't know how to fix that since I refuse to touch it xd

Apple trying to make it easy for users makes it harder for users. Oh and of course it was in .heic format which I had to online convert.
