transfer files from macbook to pc

I am currently building a new pc and once its complete I wish to build transfer a bunch of files from my macbook to my pc and i was wondering what the easiest way to go about this was.

I also do not want to purchase any new software or anything. i know how to transfer stuff from pc to pc using a home network but i'm not sure if that works with a macbook. any ideas?

EDIT: solved my own problem with a portable hard drive, i forgot i had one.

4GB? 40GB? 400GB? More?

Portable HD, perfect. I move files between Macs at work and PCs at home all the time using flash drives. Same basic thing just smaller capacity.
