transfer bookmarks from Chrome installation?

Anyone had any luck transferring Chrome bookmarks. I found instructions that have you copy the User Data folder from the old installation to the new one, and that works for my home page, cookies, settings, etc, but my bookmarks are still not being transfered.

I think the bookmarks are in an older release of Chrome than the current one, so one thing I think I will try is updating Chrome on that computer and then trying to transfer everything again.

Any other tips?
