I've bought a new Android Smartphone (Quad-core, Jellybean OS 4.2.1). I'm planning to buy a 16gb microsdhc class 10/UHS-I card for it. I'm going install a lot of apps and games in it.. So, please suggest the best in performance(Read/Write speed) card out of the 2 options given below..:-

Sandisk Mobile Ultra microsdhc UHS-I 16GB

Transcend Microsdhc Class-10 UHS-I 16GB

Yeah, Sandisk has always had an unwarranty reputation for speed IMO.

I remember back in the days of DS flashcarts, tons of people with Sandisk microSDs would have freezes in their games because it's simply not fast enough. Sandisk would have good sustained rates but terrible random access.

Keep in mind that you cannot install apps to a microSD card (and the reliability of an microSD card makes that a bad idea in the first place even if you could hack that capability back into Android). Anand has said during the podcast that NAND flash used in microSD cards is the lowest grade produced besides maybe cheap USB sticks.

I have to ask you, WHY a UHS-I card?

I can't think of any mobile phone that can support UHS-I speeds (read OR write).

The fastest MicroSD card on the market is the SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s 16GB MicroSDHC. (review here - http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1972/2/ )

Even though it can get 94MB/s read and 82MB/s write in a most optimal environment, they tested it in a Samsung Galaxy S3 and it was only able to get around 22MB/s read and 15MB/s write.

Basically you're just going to want a MicroSD card that is fast for read, write, and Random 4K write. I have not personally tested the Transcend UHS-I card, but I have a regular Transcend MicroSDHC Class 10 that was good for read/write, but not good for Random 4K write.

I would recommend the Samsung "Blue" line (what poofyhairedguy posted, it comes in Class 6 or Class 10, and they perform identically), the Samsung Pro line, or the SanDisk Mobile Ultra series.

I would NOT recommend the Samsung Plus ("Orange") line, as they do not have good Random 4K write speeds.
