Long story short: gotta replace a M.2 drive in the tinniest factor, 2242, and there isn't much to choose from, only those two brands Transcend and MydigitalSSD

I want to get the 256GB model but I don't know which to choose, I'm concerned mainly about durability and reliability since if it breaks it would cripple my laptop and nuke my OS install

Got zero experience with these brands, never owned anything from them, but samsung and intel don't make SSD in this size so that's that.

Which one is better?

Whoever voted for transcend please explain why, I been checking reviews and there are lots of complaints regarding heat: apparently its "normal" for it to run at 70 celsius

I voted the Transcend drive.

For 256GB m.2 the Transcend is rated 560/320 read write (spec's from site). The 256GB MydigitalSSD is only doing ~ 480/170 (CrystalDiskMark) according to MydigitalSSD's site. So the Transcend is considerably faster in writing speeds. The Amazon ratings for both were about equal.

Didn't read anything about Transcend's running hot, but if there are several cases of this being reported, then it may be something to consider.
