Transatlantic flight: Window or aisle?

I always used to go with an aisle seat, but I changed my mind. I just booked a window seat both ways. Last time I had a 10+ hr. flight I tried a window seat and I now think it's better. Nobody climbing over you, your right arm does not have to come in contact with someone's fat sweaty forearm, you can put the pillow up against the wall and sleep in a semi-human position...

What happens if you sit on the port side of the aircraft?
Or did you book the starboard?

omg AISLE!!!!!! easy access to walk around, stretch, and use the restrooms. I tried a window seat from Asia, and regretted it dearly.

Aisle, of course. Not only you have more leg room, but it's also not as cold (cold air from the window is really annoying)

that window/airframe can get vicious cold. I cram my jacket and blanket against the wall and try to sleep the whole way across the pond. Transpacific, gotta be aisle, 14 hours is too long to be jammed into a cubby-hole. The days of upgrading to businessclass are over and American carriers love to squeeze in every seat. How I long to have an empty middle seat.

For that long of a flight, definitely an aisle seat.

For shorter flights, where I know I won't have to use the rest room, I'll take a window seat, preferably exit row though.

How often do you get up and stretch?
I should also mention that I use a laptop alot during the flight.
It's a big PITA to get out of the way of people who constantly have to climb on by.

each has their advantages...

aisle is good for:

1) easy bathroom access
2) easy stretching access
3) LEG ROOM

#3 is a biggy for me.. I like to stretch my legs out into the aisle

window:

1) not bothered by others
2) sleeping against the wall

Free booze on transatlantic (at least with the United flight I took)...so isle = quicker access to the can if you have to whiz.

I was stuck on a window seat by the wing on my non-stop flight from Tokyo to NYC a few years ago.

I wanted something sharp to stick in my own neck for all of the last half of that flight. What made it worse is that I had to fly from NYC to San Francisco, then from there to Salt Lake, and from there to Boise, then a 4 hour drive home. Never again.

hahahaha, wow. I can't even imagine that one. You probably cried when you saw your own bed, or just slept for 20 hours straight.

ya that's true. If that's the case, then window is probably fine. I can never sleep in an airplane, and i never used my laptop because it's large, and the battery only lasts for one movie ...just barely.
