Tranny fix, $8

So my tranny started acting up 3 weeks ago, after getting to cruising speed and then needing to slow down a bit it would rev up and "gear hunt". I also noticed that my paddle switch on the shifter knob now did nothing, normally when you put it in "L" you can choose gears or up-shift/downshift. I was planning on bringing it to a tranny shop this week when late last night I stumbled across a thread @ Chevy Malibu forums, seems others have had the same problem and fixed it by removing the console and finding a broken wire, the wire goes up the shaft to the paddle's. Pulled my console off and sure as s*** there it was, snapped clean off. A trip the the hardware store for some heat-shrink tubing and solder, ( I gave it an extra "2 of wire so it would not happen again) and all is well. If you drive any GM with a console shifter and the paddle arrangement keep this in mind if your tranny starts acting up.
