I have been using lots-o PHP with some dynamic database driven content for the blog. Performance is okay, but the news that I am dragging into the site slows it down. I would like to find a way to schedule a server side process that gathers news from other sites and drops it into my database. I have seen software that claims to do this for $199, but my price is more like 'Free!'
any suggestions about design, layout or architecture would be well received.
