I live in Maine and ran a stop sign, which was stupid... So, I want to know if this is going to affect my insurance? If so, should I take a drivers course to help that? Or will it help?

Does everything get reported to your insurance company? or do you have to report it? In MA, it woud indeed affect your premium.

most states it will, don't know about yours. often if you ask the judge for deferred adjudication it will be removed from your record as if it were never there, otherwise a defensive driving course should do the same thing...again, depends on the state you live in.

They said that had me on video so going to court would not help, according to the officer... he was just warning me if I tried, he seemd pretty nice.

I just got some good advice, I'm going to just pay the ticket (I was planning on it anyway) and wait to see if the insurance raises my premium, if they do, than I'll take a DD course and hope they will lower it again.
