Traffic Ticket Woes

I've had a string of bad luck in the last couple of months as far as traffic tickets go. I got a ticket in August for running a stop sign out of state(Maine). Then, three weeks ago I got another ticket out of state (New York) for speeding (55mph in a 35mph). Last night I got a ticket for 40mph in a 30mph in the next town over from mine, (Massachusetts). Also, last March I got a speeding ticket in Mass, and in April 1999 I got a red light violation. So overall, it looks like I may be screwed, I really hope I don't lose my license. I'm hoping that the speeding ticket in New York won't catch up to me here in Mass. What do you guys think?

I doubt they'll yank your license for those. Those are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

Insurance could be another story.

Sounds like to me that you need to slow down. At least you know if they take your license it's your own fault.

What did the judge tell me? Oh yea, "Your drivers license is a privlege not a right!"

What pisses me off is that this ticket was for 40mph in a 30mph, it wasn't like I was driving like a maniac, and this one may cause me to lose my license.

I know its kind of assanine to say it afterwards, but if you knew you could have lost your license why didn't you take it easy until you'd worked the points off...?

Mass is 'a little different' than other state as far as our RMV (Registry of Motor Vehicle) rules go.

I recently got a ticket (78 in 65) driving through Connecticut. I decided to fight (only thing that damned EVIL WITCH prosecutor was willing to do was drop the cost from $250 to $100). What I was told was that the points would show up ONLY in Connecticut, so supposedly NO PENALTY in Mass.

Viper is right about the Insurance though, while RMV is lax about doing national lookups for violations on your license...Insurance companies do a background check every year with random clients.

Here's to you and me not being chosen within the next few years!

My roommate is from Mass and he's gotten a few speeding tickets here in NY. The points don't show up on his license cause I don't believe that you can get points for out of state violations. Whether or not the points you would have recieved are logged in that other state, I'm not sure, but you shouldn't have a problem unless your violations in Mass cause you to lose your license. If you really want to get out of speeding tickets and such, you should start a relationship with the daughter (or if you're a female, the son) of a DA in your county. It's a wonderful thing.....not only am I with a great girl, I was going 48 in a 30 because of "inadequate exhaust" ;) :)

Fight tickets whenever you have even a weak case or no case at all to get em thrown out.
50% of the time the officer who wrote the ticket can't be there and if thats the case then the court has no witness and the judge will dismiss it.
If he does show up you can ask for no points or plead down the fine or just plead guilty and pay it if the judge looks crusty.
I've only tried to go to court twice cause of tickets and both times it was thrown out before I even got in front of the judge cause one the parking commisioner guy got hit by a car and couldn't show up for court and another cause the officer got killed on the highway and couldn't show up.
Felt bad about the cop, it wasn't personal he just did his job and gave me a ticket real nice about it and I took it to court just cause like you I was starting to get too many.
