Traffic school question

On the speeding ticket I just received from the court, there are the following options:

1. Pay $185
2. Pay $209 for approval to attend traffic school
3. Appear at the Inyo County Superior Court by 10AM on 02/21/07

Since this is the first traffic ticket I've received in almost five years, I'd like to attend traffic school so that it does not affect my insurance.

However, I don't want to go to the traffic school in the city that I received the ticket in. I would like to do traffic school online - at this point, what should I do?

If I pay $209, do I have to wait for their "permission" to attend traffic school, or can I go ahead and do it independently online? I've never done traffic school online before.

Contact the court clerk and either ask if they allow online traffic school or if they can send you the list of approved traffic schools (if they will not answer the first question). Not all counties allow online traffic schools (which are a total joke for anyone with half a brain).

If the clerk is really uncooperative, you may have to send in the form and money first, and then they will send you the list.
