Ah yes the wonderful traffic jam, I hate these things...nothing like sitting in traffic for ages!
Obligatory Pics:

JAM-1

JAM-2

And of course this is all created by people not paying attention to the flow of traffic...the left lane was moving just fine, the right ;ane that goes to the exit was backed up...so what does everyone do?

"I will just stay in the left lane and then try to slip into the exit traffic way up ahead of all these other shmucks...there by blocking traffic for everyone since no one will let me in..."

Idiots...

That's a pretty small traffic jam compared to traffic here in Phoenix. Still, it's annoying to have to sit there in traffic just so that some fvckhead can try to move over at the last second.

Looks like everyday I95 traffic here in northern virginia. Except multiply the number of lanes times 2 and extend it about 20 miles.

I gladly contribute to the traffic by not letting asshats in.

Just the other day, this huge chevy truck in the right lane behind me cut into the lane for cars just entering the freeway to drive up and cut in front of a bunch of cars. Because the right 3 lanes need to do this, I end up being the car right to his left as his lane ended. Being the asshat that I am, I tailgated the car ahead of me whenever he tried to merge then backing off just a bit. Somehow, he ended up on the dirt shoulder...

Also, I swear people here in Northern Virginia are fvcking ignorant bastards that remember to snort their daily allotment of crack before forgetting to put on their seatbelts :|:|

Just yesterday...YES...YES..a fvking LAND CRUISER cuts me OFF TWICE..YES TWICE... at a light. WE were barely moving and he manages to get in my lnae in a hurry so I go into the other lane. There is no way he didn;t see me:|

LETS NOT EVEN GET INTO THE FACT THAT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE HERE DO NOT BOTHER TO EITHER LOOK OR TURN ON THEIR TURNING SIGNALS BEFORE CHANGING LANES>

IT IS RARE.>AND I MEAN FVKING RARE THAT I CAN GO A DAY WITHOUT SWERVING OR SLAMING ON THE BRAKES BECAUSE OF THE FOOLS!

And no, it iss not liek this everywhere. For some odd reason, NYC are fvking maniacs on the road, but they actually bring SOME skill to the road.

People are just ignorant bastards here and it is irritating, not to mention DANGEROUS.

I have already lost control of my vehicle @ 70mph avoiding some bitch who didn't bother to put forth the effort to check for me when she decided to make a quick two-lane change in a vehicle that had bedsheets or towels completely blockign off her entire passenger side window..I REALLY would appreciate not having to do that again.

phew...getting all that out felt good. I NEVER express any anger or anxiety on the road excepet when sounding my horn to prevent someone from colliding with me, so this "release' felt good....

I think I'll go eat something....:D

NYC drivers are skilled out of necessity. With all the pedestrian traffic and badly designed highway entries and exits, and poorly placed signs there, you have to be extremely alert at all times. It is amazing how smoothly it actually flows, given the number of people on the road and the other conditions. I think the reason the general skill level ends up being so much higher there is kind of like Darwinism. The bad drivers get scared off the road after 1 or 2 tries.

Pretty much everywhere in the southeast is the hell full of idiots that you describe. Especially Orlando. (Not to be confused with Kissimee -- I'm NOT talking about tourists).

If all you rust belters from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania all would just go the hell home and leave Virginia to us natives we would all be a lot happier. ;)

It wasn't caused by people not paying attention, it was caused by people who think they are the most important, or rather the ONLY important, person on the road. People are selfish, and they don't care if they screw everyone else over for the sake of getting where they need to go 2 minutes faster.

If all you rust belters from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania all would just go the hell home and leave Virginia to us natives we would all be a lot happier.

It works both ways.

I think Goosemaster must have been watching different New Yorkers than the ones I have observed demonstrating their mad driving skillz by backing up on I 95 at the Springfield mixing bowl. Evidently all the signs beginning 5 miles before the exit stating that New York and points north need to be in the right lanes aren't enough to keep them from missing their exits and it would just be way too much trouble to do the safe thing and go to the next exit to turn around.

Those are probably long islanders. There is a world of difference even though they are only 20-30 miles away. Or maybe they are from upstate.
