edit: Cliffs at the end

i've got a trial date for the 27th, but have only til the 17th (this saturday) to have my trial date changed. i want to change it if it will not affect my options in any way. otherwise, i will stick with the 27th. i live in CALIFORNIA. driving school is NOT an option

i've read some threads on traffic violations (and did a wikipedia and google search on the terms) but i'm not quite sure if any of these can help.

Deferred Adjucation
Court Supervision
Plead for Clemency
Deferred Finding
Reduce to non-moving

i recall hearing one or more of these cannot be "used" if you change your trial date. the citing officer didn't show up on the original trial date and THAT DAY left a message for the judge saying he had a family emergency. does this change anything for me?

i got a speeding ticket (82 in a 65 zone), costing ~$220. i want to win the money back, or at least get it reduced. getting the point on my record dropped would be nice, but money preferred.

CLIFFS:

* got a speeding ticket (driving school NOT an option
* need terminology explained
* what's my best option?
* do any of the options require me not to change my trial date (even though it has been changed once because the citing officer did not show up the first trial date)
* listed in order of what i would like: win trial > get money back > point removed from record > nothing happens :(

Pay the penalty, learn your lesson, move on with life.

(i can drive with no insurance...don't drive too often in college).

You are setting yourself up for a world of hurt.

EDIT: I was wondering why driving school was not a option also but I am trusting that the OP has researched it and knows about it.

why is driving school not an option? have you already taken it within the last 18 months?

don't drive without insurance. that is extremely stupid and risky.

my parents have insurance on the car so if anyone drives one of their cars, they're insured. i just basically can't drive other peoples' cars

actually i do. if you had my passenger sitting in your passenger seat, i'm sure you would stfu and realize not getting into 3 accidents would require skill. i was trying to get to an exit to get him out the car when i happened to come across a speed trap during nighttime while boxed in by a tailgating SUV to the rear and a sedan to the right. o an excuse, right? well i didn't come here to explain myself. i asked for help with some terminology.

now that that's taken care of :p

i got some help offline which wasn't motivating. anyone else know anything about the terms i listed?

I didnt come here for an excuse. I came here to tell you, that speeding is unexcusable unless you are driving an ambulance or a police car in an emergency situation.

You could have gotten off right there. You should have protested and demanded your right to a speedy trial.

You can't get boxed in by a car behind. All you have to do is slow down and they will be forced to slow down too. This is what you should have been doing instead of hitting 80 so that you could get in front of a car to get to an exit. I see this all the time and it royally pisses me off. All the person had to do was slow down with their signal on, let the car in the right lane go past them, and pull over. Instead they will floor it, cross 2 lanes doing 90 nearly losing control of their vehicle to make an exit.
