Trading my 8800GTS for a smaller form factor GPU. Comparisons?

I've never gotten much into GPU preformance comparisons, but I've got a 8800GTS from 2008 card sitting here that works, and a new horizontal mirco-atx HTPC that's case is too small for it. I was wondering what a comparable trade card would be. Perhaps its worth just selling used and then buying a smaller GPU outright, but I figured I would ask y'all first!

If it's going into an HTPC, you can get something like the HD 6450 for relatively cheap. Considering the 8800GTS draws somewhere around 100 watts loaded, the 6450 with its <30W TDP is a nice upgrade feature.

In which direction is it too large? Is the cooler too wide (i.e. two slots), or is the card too tall? Either way, a low-profile HD7750 should do the trick for you.

Get this card (Sapphire HD6670 GDDR5 low profile):

This card has equivalent performance to your card (which a 6450 does not), and it's also very low power.

While a low profile 7750 isn't a bad idea, it's significantly faster than your card (which you probably don't need), and it's also quite a bit more expensive than a 6670. If you're interested, though, here's a link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814202002

By the way, I don't think you'll get a "comparable" card in trade. You may be able to get a much lower-performing card in trade from someone looking for do more gaming at the expense of modern features on a card like a 5450 or 6450.

That Sapphire 6670 isn't a bad card, I had one installed in a Acer X3960 with a 220w PSU. But I wouldn't recommend it unless your case have good ventilation, which these small cases rarely have. It runs very hot, I had to mount a case fan on top and have the side door slightly open in the back to keep the pc from shutting down from overheating. I also used the PowerColor 7750 for a couple of days which had the same problem.

A 6450 is cheap and is perfectly sufficient for HTPC use. I just don't see a need to spend more.

Get a low profile HD 7750 if you are space constrained or a normal HD 7770 if you can fit one in your case. anything lower like a HD 6670 will actually be a kind of downgrade to the 8800 GTS.

7750 low profile seems to be the best option,

if the 8800GTS is the old G80 model a 6670 is probably faster.
