I found a guy willing to trade a Galaxy GTX 680 Hall of Fame edition (It's the 2GB version) for a EVGA 560 Ti Superclocked 1GB and $280.

I'm not exactly strapped for cash and everything for my PC is ridiculous except my graphics card. Is this a pretty fair trade, if not, how much should I try to talk him down for?

560TI = ~$200

Total of 480 for a 680................I call that lame since a brand new can be had for the same price. Though since we arent dealing with straight cash right now and only the value of money spent in the past this is entirely up to you. A 560Ti is not money, it just represents it. So essentially the 680 will only cost you 280$.

I call it a fair trade as used 560 Ti's sell for around $140 on Ebay; many of them sell for less actually depending on the brand. If you sell on Ebay you also must pay seller fees which bring that number down even more. So essentially you are getting a GTX 680 for around $400 which I would call a good deal. The particular model that you are going to buy is worth even more then normal GTX 680s so that makes it an even better deal.

Obviously gonna make sure it runs but is there anything else I need to do to check on it, labels, receipts but anything past that?

I don't know. In your case I would just try and sell the card on forums or privately and get a 680 if that is what you want. My 560ti Sold for $140.

See if he will bring it over and let you test it out first.

Well, he's getting way more than $140 for his card in this case. I'm assuming he's talking about a card that is for sale on this forum, by the way, rather than someone selling a card in his area.

You need to take the same precautions you would if you were buying it outright. Ask the age, usage pattern, any problems, why he's selling/trading, how the payment will be handled, etc. Ask for heatware or any similar feedback, and ask for pictures of the merchandise that have his name written on a piece of paper next to it, to prove it's in his possession.

What? A used GTX560Ti 1GB is worth at most $140-150. KFA2 GeForce GTX 680 Hall of Fame (HOF) Edition = Galaxy GTX680 1267mhz White Edition and goes for $560 on Newegg with shipping. That's the fastest factory pre-overclocked 680 in North America.

Then there is the remaining warranty on the Galaxy 680 and probably not much left on that 560Ti. This sounds like a great trade, actually sounds too good to be true, so I'd be careful. Of course the most important question is does the GTX560Ti satisfy the OP's performance before he drops $280? If he plays SC2, Diablo 3 and so on, then it's just wasting $. However, if the upgrade is desired, this is a good trade.

Reason for the sale was.. ive got 4gb gtx 680s.. and i wanted a new gpu for my brother.

Would you help him with the warranty claim until the end of warranty period should the card break from now and then?

That's a good deal you got then. I guess some people don't need extras. Was it an MSI card you gave him? I think they go by serial number.

Yeah you just do not realize how big a Cosmos2 is till your infront of one...

Also i think you learned about Static electricity Which will be something to know on your next build..

You took notice when i was picking anything up i was grounding myself then if i sit it down and moved around the room i would then again ground myself before picking up said item.
