i think i want a manual LX i4 coupe. I have an 03 LX auto sedan. Since my car is getting higher mileage (32k), it might be nice to quit now. It might cost me 2k or so effectively, but thats not so bad since I start at close to zero miles again. :D

I'm not too interested in any other car cause they all cost too damn much. LX manual coupe is 17.5k. Maybe the TC, but I like the accord engine better.

if it only costs 2k then do it. i bet it costs more than that, though.

keep in mind that's $2k plus the auto option, so it's more like $2600 or so

and scion tC has the 2.4L camry engine in it, so it's smooth like the camry.

Bastard.

I figure my car is worth ~16k, the car i want is 17.5k. I was just thinking now though that i am effectively paying tax twice, so this doesn't really work.

in texas, depending on how you sell your car, you get the sales tax back on the amount that you sell it for. maybe your state does the same.

Yeah, $14k for a trade-in sounds about right, MSRP on Edmunds is listed at 19,300..then you consider all the fees associated, it'll be quite a bit more than $2k.

James - I highly doubt you'd get $16K for your vehicle with 32K miles on it. And if you just want a base LX, that seems kind of pointless to trade up. At least go for a higher model and not just a coupe/manual.

Edmunds says 15k for private party on my end. And I don't pay anything near MSRP on a new car.

If you can do it for $2k out of pocket then YES do it.

However I doubt you can sell your 03 LX for $16,000 unless you find a sucker or it's in super-mint condition.

Besides the front/bumper, there is not a single ding or scratch on the rest of the body. The interior is spotless and it still has the new car smell.

Every couple weeks or so, I squander half a day washing and polishing it. Even the engine bay is spotless :p

Anyways, I think the TC might be 16k flat, which narrows the gap if I decide on that car. I just need to find out if I can get away from tax.
