Tracy Morgan: I'll Kill My Son If He Acts Gay
6/10/2011 6:07 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

"30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan is under some very serious fire this morning -- after reportedly spewing some disgusting homophobic "jokes" during a performance in Nashville last week.

According to reports, Morgan took the stage at the Ryman Auditorium (pictured above) and went off about gays -- saying, "Gays need to quit being p**sies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying."

He added, "Gay is something that kids learn from the media and programming."

When talking about the possibility of his son being gay -- Tracy said he "better talk to me like a man and not in a gay voice or I'll pull out a knife and stab that little n**ger to death."

Afterward, Tracy told the crowd, "I don't "f*cking care if I piss off some gays, because if they can take a f*cking d**k up their ass ... they can take a f*cking joke."

After the performance, the Ryman Auditorium issued a statement on the performance saying, "The Ryman Auditorium regrets that people were offended by statements made by Tracy Morgan during his June 3 appearance."

The statement continues, "The Ryman does not control the content presented by people appearing on its stage, nor does it endorse any of the views of, or statements made by, such persons."

It's not the first time Morgan has ignited controversy over homphobic material -- back in 2009, a bunch of people reportedly walked out of his show at Carnegie Hall after he said being gay was a "choice."

So far, no comment from Morgan's camp.

I am a fan of Tracy Morgan and am not easily offended (I'm a longtime Stern/Carolla listener and appreciate irreverent comedy), but I find these comments pretty repugnant and unfunny. It's not going to make me boycott 30 Rock or anything - in a way I can appreciate his honesty - but I think what he said is out of bounds.

I actually care more that it's unfunny than that it's offensive. Eddie Murphy's gay material in the '80s was politically incorrect (shockingly so by today's standards) but at least it was funny . . .

He's using the "its just a joke defense" but in reality he wasn't really joking.

None of what he said was even funny. Sounds like he is a homophobe. Unless the follow up of those "jokes" led to something that is actually funny.

Personally, I am getting kinda bored/fed up with all the "Anti-bullying" nonsense in general. Not just with gays, but with teens and cyberbullying and such too.

The shit is going to happen. No reason to be unrealistic about it. It isn't going to stop. Need to work on teaching our kids to deal with it because it is how the real world works. It suck I know. I fucking hated high school too. You just learned to deal with that shit and move on.
I mean he had a point, stop being such pussies about it.

Tracy Morgan is about as funny as cancer imo and this really just reaffirms my opinion of him. Just one minority not understanding the plight of another, really, which is the saddest part of it.

It's quite sad that he has no fundamental understanding of the situation, how being gay is no more a choice than him choosing to be black.

I agree with these two posts (if that's possible).

I think some of the things he said made sense, and were truthful. Some were a tad over the top (like stabbing his son). There is just too much "oh you can't say that you will hurt their feelings" in this world today I think. Go watch a comedian like Don Rickles who is racist (across the board) but nobody gets up in arms about it.... but then again he doesn't present his jokes in an "angry" manner like Morgan did here..

Haha, a man named Tracy telling homosexuals to get over bullying. I can feel the self-hate thousands of miles away.

btw, initially I wondered why there was no controversy over his use of the n-word. Then I Googled him. :awe:

Tracy really has a giant ego - I listened to his interview on KFOG when he came to SF to do a comedy show and the guys is beyond full of himself and really disrespectful.

What he said was not funny but not harmful - he's a comedian - its what they do!

Wait wut? Tracy Morgan is full of himself? I have never EVER gotten that impression from him, and I have seen countless interviews.

What's amazing to me is that he seems to literally put other comedians/hosts/interviewers to their knees begging him to stop making them laugh. Watch him on Jon Stewart or Conan... they literally can not stop laughing at him and basically have to pull themselves away. Even Tina Fey puts Morgan on a pedestal.

You're saying being gay isn't a choice? How is it not a choice? Anything in life is a choice. Being straight is a choice. I choose boobies. Gays choose penor.

So you are just as likely to suck a dick, but you just decided on women instead? So theres a chance you'll change your mind?

You don't choose to like boobs though, you are wired to do so, just as I am wired to like dongs. I don't want to be this way, but realistically I have no choice in what I'm attracted to.

If you're going on the vague assumption that I can just choose to be straight I think you're missing the point entirely. Kind of a myopic viewpoint.

Bullying has evolved. What with the web and all forms of media to really get under someone's skin; like photoshopping and facebook.

Also, handling and dealing with bullies requires a thinking and unemotional mind. Does it make sense to teach your kids to be vindictive pricks? Or, expect parents raise their children into being normal human beings and NOT harass the shit out of people they don't like?

Most people like to rag on others and then use the "it's just a joke!" defense. When they should have the ability to read others and figure out they should say or not say something. It's not that hard to think before you speak. Or, just don't say anything.

But, it seems to be challenging for Tracy to realize his fears should not spill over into his career. He is there to entertain. Even if he doesn't like the gays, he should be funny and not show his fear and hate.

Tracy should be smart not to offend and drive away a segment of his fans that probably loved him for his humor, but are now disgusted by him.

Where are the jokes? I think Tracy's funny on 30 Rock, but I don't see the funny here. I'm not offended though, stupid people have stupid opinions.

I'd like to watch you have a discussion with one of the parents of a kid that offed themselves due to non-stop bullying.

That's the thing - what is funny (or even trying to be funny) in these comments?

not sure if srs...
It is at least part of the equation.

There is most definitely a genetic component, that has been scientifically suggested. And I will completely agree that there is a nurture compenent as well. There also seems to be environmental factors that play in as well (exposure to lower levels of testosterone in the womb for instance). All of which contribute. Personality takes a play as well. I'm sure there is also a certain degree of chance and opportunity that also comes into play. I also don't look at it like it is an on/off switch or a line on the sand. It is a very complex distribution that can not be easily categorized.

But, finally, you can not dismiss that it comes down to what the "self" chooses to actually pursue.

Personally, I feel addiction also plays out similarly. A combination of everything that encompasses what we as humans agree to be "us" and a choice we then choose to follow.

Disclaimer: I should state at this point (because I don't want to be called some sort of "homophobe") that I utterly find nothing wrong with homosexual lifestyles and completely believe that they should be afforded all the rights and privileges and so forth that any other person has. I don't feel that it is something to be "cured" or corrected and that any person makes a "wrong" choice when they do such.

Tracy Morgan seems mentally retarded to me, and sometimes I don't think it's an act.

Yea, this is what he does...he says really outlandish shit. Just look up some of his YouTube interviews, especially the one of him on a local news station at like 7 am possibly still drunk. He tells the white lady anchor he's gonna impregnate her and a bunch of other people....and tells her its "forbidden love"...proceeds to take his shirt off while laying on the desk and goes "this is my impression of a pregnant woman giving birth" and sticks his stomach in and out. He's nuts.

I'm not even shocked that he said any of this...he says the craziest shit I've ever heard in my life. Just watch all his interviews on YouTube, etc...

Here's the interview I was referencing:
