I ordered something that is coming from Canada by UPS. According to the tracking #, it arrives at Louisville, KY. I live in Southern IN, just north of Louisville. The next place it goes to is Spokane, WA. Why does it come within 10 miles of where I live then go to the other corner of the states? Does it have to do with coming from Canada? Once it arrived in Louisville, it said registered with clearing agency. It was supposed to be here by the 22nd but I don't know now.

This is not the only time this has happened either. Sometimes it will go from Louisville to Indianapolis then back to me.

Has anybody else had this happen before?

I don't know, but I'm about to lose it with this bullshit UPS/USPS shipping. USPS has been holding it in town for like four days now and if I don't get it by Thursday I will stab someone.

A. Tracking error, the pkg didn't really take the route shown.

B. The route you think it should take, is not necessarily the most efficient. (This is the most likely since Lville is a UPS hub.)

C. Weather/equipment/other reroute delay.

Here is a screenshot of the tracking:

I am thinking it never arrived in Louisville until right before it got here. There is no way it could have been in Louisville going by the time frame.

Registered with clearing agency in Louisville was done before the package arrived in Louisville. You misinterpreted that as the package being in Louisville. It wasn't.

Yeah. It went straight from Richmond to Spokane to Louisville. You kind of have to read what the statuses actually say.

Exactly. Nowhere does it say it arrived in Louisville until the last entry before out for shipping in IN.

Reading comprehension is difficult, I know, but can be improved upon..... ;)

They have a giant network and are moving tons of packages. It's not like they're going to put just your package on a truck and bring it to you; they have to arrange for the trip to your area to have an entire truckload. If they have a truckload ready to go to one destination and at that destination another truckload to bring to your destination they'll stick your package on it even if it's taking it farther from where you are (I'm making a lot of assumption here).

I ordered a package on the 10th. Went from KY to MI in 4 days. Sat 40 miles from my house for a week and was finally delivered yesterday. Amazon shows USPS was the shipper, yet it sat at a Fedex facility for the week?

Could be true for some destinations/hubs, but certainly not Louisville. Nearly every package UPS ships any sizable distance goes through that massive hub.

Sometimes USPS and FedEx work together
