We’re excited to announce that Tracfone is now part of the Verizon family!

To make sure you’re getting the most out of your Tracfone service, you’re entitled to a
FREE SIM card replacement that will allow you to start using the Verizon network.

Plus, to celebrate your transition to the Verizon network, we’re offering you one FREE monthof service with the $20 Plan FREE*.

*Free service plan will be automatically applied in reserve after your new SIM card is activated.

I never liked Verizon. I doubt I ever will.

Important Details:

Offer only applicable for a single use per customer.

Activating your new SIM card will automatically transfer your phone number and remaining benefits.

Your current Tracfone Service Plan will remain available for use on VoLTE-ready phones at least until Nov. 23, 2024.

Upon activating your new SIM card, you’ll need to reset your voicemail – old messages will also be lost.

After your current SIM card is deactivated, it cannot be reactivated.

When upgrading to a new network, your coverage may be affected.

So, if I have another two years at least, why are they pushing it now? Will they make a better offer later? More free months? Better device?

Once they transfer over to Verizon I'll have to find another AT&T MVNO. AT&T and their MVNO's is the only service I can get in this area and in this building. We have T-mobile in this town. My neighbor tried Tello but the signal was more miss than hit.

Also, this is the first I've heard of the end date. I've only heard rumors of them totally switching everything to Verizon but nothing concrete.

I keep getting their 'get your free SIM and switch now' spam. I hate Verizon.

If I wait, will the **free** $20 month go away?

But wait, there's more .....

They've added a website ....

I've received nothing like this (yet) on my verizon service TF, phone.

Edit: Nevermind, I misunderstood the situation. It's not an upsell, just Verizon looking to move people onto their network and away from AT&T/T-Moble? If so, sucks for people who have bad verizon signal in their needed areas of use but otherwise, just popping in a new SIM and transfer the account to it, right?

When I'm forced to go to verizon, I'll be getting a tmobile hotspot instead. I'm using the phone solely as a hotspot, and it's convenient having the option of a second phone if the need comes up, but I'm not interested in verizon.

So, I got the thing and the card with it says the process will take a few minutes. When it didn't, I got a hold of CS and they tell me it will be SIX HOURS!!!!

Oh well, I'll let it set overnight.

All downhill as expected. 2G of data has vanished and no one can tell me why. I can't always get LTE either apparently which I never had trouble with before.

^ You don't ask why, you ask them to add the data back. When I'm doing a significant change like transfer account to new phone, I first go onto TF's site and make a screencap of the buckets, just in case....

Here are a few phone #s to try.
305-640-2000 X 1029
305-715-6500 X 1029
800-626-4883 X 3324

Looks like it's back, but I still need to know why and what happened.

It was around 2Gb a few days ago. When I looked last night it was around 500M. This morning its was around 440M and I hadn't used the phone at all. I don't really get LTE inside then house and usually have data turned off. Where did 50 some Mb go over night?

I also text the word Usage to 611611 and take a screenshot of my phone screen. Now I have the text and screenshot as a record. I do this on a regular basis.

Few days back I'd had it with barely being able to make a call. Can't hear me now was common.

I remembered that I had an unused AT&T Sim stashed away. Got TF to let me switch to that which immediately restored ability to make calls and regained reliable LTE service.

Without that, this last day of no DSL would have been miserable.

I might have had to resort to ..........

Television !!!!!! 🤪😡🤬👹👺

Before the forced move, I had been getting 5, 6, 7 days between charges. That duration dropped dramatically since the radio had to work harder to get any signal at all. Just before the post above, I was barely getting more than a day and a half.

Since the switch back, I'm back to getting 6 days or more. Last full charge was on the 12th and I'm only down to 30% now.

I don't use it a lot. Mostly just on stand by where it pulls in a some messages and emails using the home internet service, but it still needs to pull a cell signal for calls.

Moral, avoid Verizon if possible if you're in an area they don't cover well.
