The wife and i only participate to one charity and no other. And even then it is in a form of old clothing, etc. and not a monetary donation. Sometimes, in rare cases, we might consider a monetary donation to some cause or event that we think is managing donated monies well, but that is a very big rarity. Anyway, I digress.

For years our home telephone has been autonomously solicited by various Fraternal Order of Police organizations. Of course, we get robocalls from a variety of so called non-profits and for-profits and a lot of fake businesses, etc., but today I wanted to focus on FOPs because these guys are suppose to uphold the law and with the TRACED Law now in effect I find it bemusing that FOPs still are robocalling us. From what I can find out, only political entities are exempt from the TRACED law. But this has had zero impact on FOPs and other like organizations from robocalling us. It is a daily occurrence.

Now, the landline in our home has been on the Do Not Call list since 2003. Our cell phone numbers have been on the Do not Call list since 2009. But what good is it to have a Do Not Call list and the TRACED Law if FOPs are going to openly violate it? If I am ignorant as to my conclusions regarding who is exempt from the TRACED Law, or how FOPs are being setup as potentially being ambiguous pseudo-political parties or committees that are also exempt then I would surely understand. Anyone know?

I am not looking at a discussion of the politic here but the rationalization of an Order of Police org actively breaking Federal Law.

Cops that break laws... What an unusual occurrence! I have no idea what the law is. I don't use a landline, and if you aren't in my contacts, I don't get the call, so I haven't had much chance to get pissed about it.

It isn't specific to landlines. Just in my personal case the FOPs are robocalling our landline. TRACED applies to robocalling to any telephone, landline or cellular.

I only mentioned it cause cells offer the user more power for dealing with unwanted contact.

Odds are, those FOP callers aren't actually representing a real police agency...those scams have been well known for decades.

They MIGHT be calling to support a legitimate police agency...or not...but it's almost always a boiler-shop operation of paid solicitors making those calls...and they generally get paid on some kind of commission deal.
