I purchased the Corsair Dominator 6gb pack for my LGA775 build with the intention of upgrading to i7 in the future. The model number is TR3X6G1600C8D

Obviously the S2E is only Dual Channel, so I m only using 2 of the sticks. However I cannot whatsoever get these sticks stable at their rated 1600mhz. I will always get HardLocks/ Freezes

The system is currently 24hr Prime stable, E8500 @ 1800fsb but the ram is unlinked at 1333mhz.

Does anyone have any experience with the striker 2 extreme and Corsair Modules?

I understand that running at 1333mhz will not cause much of performance hit, but its the principle. My previous set of ram was OCZ 1600mhz Platinums which only worked at 1333mhz as well. Could my board just not like 1600mhz ram?

Thank you for any wisdom you can impart.

Rgds,

Did you check'd your MB specs? I have a 775 DDR3 MB too somewhere and I remember that supports only 1333. Maybe it's a little bit overclockable but not too much...

Edit: just checked, it should work on NSE too (they say...)

There are a variety of reasons...might need more NB/MCH voltage, might need looser tRD (Performance Level) timing, maybe more vDIMM, altering clock skews, etc...

NB voltage will be especially important @ 450 FSB.

I know for Intel chipsets some NB straps worked better than others, but i don't think it's the same for nForce so i cannot recommend in that regard.

Thanks for the responses, NB voltage is currently set at 1.38V, I ve already raised the VDIMM to about 1.74V and the sticks are rated at 1.65V.

Will Ram Sticks at 1600Mhz/1800fsb require a greater NB voltage than 1333mhz/1800fsb?

I m also only trying to run at 8-8-8-24-2T which is what these things are designed for.

Striker 2 Extreme is meant to be one of the best lga 775 boards, I would have though it could handle 1600mhz?!
