FreeSync over HDMI is not an open standard!
But HDMI 2.1 VRR is, right? "FreeSync over HDMI" is only using that standard. It's completely the same like Adaptive-Sync and FreeSync :)

Nope. It's just vendor independent, but not open. And FreeSync over HDMI in the current form is not open and also vendor dependent. Technically Nvidia can support it, but they need to pay for the conformance test, which is done by AMD.

Adaptive-Sync is vendor independent and open.

Make sure its a freesync over hdmi capable monitor if you're planning to buy a monitor to use this. Older models only do freesync over displayport.

this could be a big deal, if it becomes a standard for TVs to support freesync, it's a nice advantage for AMD,
