What matters is end result for consumers.
The sooner gsynch is burried the better. Its an expensive pain.

Nope. It's just vendor independent, but not open. And FreeSync over HDMI in the current form is not open and also vendor dependent. Technically Nvidia can support it, but they need to pay for the conformance test, which is done by AMD.

Adaptive-Sync is vendor independent and open.

Make sure its a freesync over hdmi capable monitor if you're planning to buy a monitor to use this. Older models only do freesync over displayport.

this could be a big deal, if it becomes a standard for TVs to support freesync, it's a nice advantage for AMD,

My monitor does Freesync over HDMI just fine.
