Toyota Tundra

IGBT

Lifer
..been looking at these and like the current body style. Next year it gets blown out to a true full size truck. It becomes much more bulbous and ford looking. Google shows intermittent engine problems up to 2003 year model. Any Tundra owners here??

So what is a Tundra in the rest of the world?

..It's not quite a full size truck about the size of a Dodge Dakota.

Off road suspension my ass. You'll NEVER again buy a Toyota in the USA with a solid front axle.

The Tundra's power-plant is a Lexus derived V8.
The only problems I know of for this engine are: o2 sensors (fixed after 2003) ,cracked exhaust headers (does not effect performance you will just hear a Tic Tic Tic on a cold engine). I have 93k and have had an o2 sensor fixed under warranty and have not had another problem since.
That being said, this engine is sweet. Its like a turbine engine and is smooth as glass. I expect to get 300k miles with no major problems.
Also, this V8 has a timing belt that needs changed @90k mile intervals so be aware of that when shopping. If it breaks your engine is trash.

They put a timing belt on a V8 truck engine? 🙁

Or is that a misprint?

geez, all them problems and you think its great?

Yep. Its a timing belt.
I suggest you go look up Technical Service Bulletins on any other truck or SUV engine for that matter and compare it to the Tundra/Lexus V8.
Its a very solid engine.
