at least it's not getting more ugly.
it'd be pretty hard to make the camry uglier.

UGLY??😕

um, yeah, that's not ugly.

I don't see what's so bad about it. Looks no worse than an Altima, Accord or Galant. The Mazda 6s looks best in this class IMHO.

IMHO the Passat is the looker for this class, especially if it had the W8 4 motion badge on the rear, but I might be a little biased 😛

The Mazda6 has a very nice front but I cannot get over the rear.

Looks just like mine. 😀

I love driving it. its smooth, Quiet, fast and the sound system rocks!!

Until you can get a hybrid model for the same price as the non-hybrid model, it really doesn't make any sense to buy one. The extra money you pay up front is more than you will ever save in gasoline fees unless you keep the car for 7+ years.

great news. Now with a reliable popular model name like the camery behind hybrid tech this will boost sales and speed the accepectence of hybrid engines. Huge market for camery communters out there.

Unless gas prices skyrocket, which they undoubtedly will. Plus, some people just like the idea of polluting less 😛

the current gen camry is one ugly boat. I prefer our older '94 XLE V6 to my dads ES330 (style wise, the interior of the lexus is VERY nice). We also have a 99 which is the worst, looks really really cheap (and this happens to be my car atm, used to drive the 94)

I agree that the '92-'96 models look the best (I have a '95 LE). The '97-'01 generation looks like crap IMHO and the interior is a step down from my generation. Looks plasticy and cheap. I disagree on the looks of the current gen though. It looks decent, nothing spectacular though.

I also prefer the looks of the previous gen ES to the current crap looking ones.

While we're talking about why the Camry beats the Accord in sales - because it's cheaper and Toyota always offers huge discounts. My dad went to the Toyota dealer today to replace his 88 Accord. He test drove it and despite the ride being slightly smoother in the Camry, he liked my 04 Accord 10x better. Said it's no contest in terms of interior and exterior styling - he himself thought the interior styling looked straight out of the '90s and was highly disappointed. After the drive, the salesguy offered him on the spot $16,990 including TT&L with 0% APR financing, compared to my similarly equipped $17,800 Accord including TT&L with a hard fought 1.9% APR financing. I'm talking to the same salesguy to get my dad into an Accord and there's no longer a 1.9% APR offered by Honda - the best we could probably do is maybe 3-4%. The Camry is only a year and a model half old but it's beat hands down by the Accord in pretty much everything, except price.

The article reads as if Toyota is the first to consider a hybrid powerplant in a mass-market, bread-and-butter car. Nevermind the fact that hybrid Accords go on sale this fall, and are supposed to feature cylinder-deactivation in the gas engine as well. By 2006, Honda might even consider hybrids to be passe, since around that time they are expected to introduce a fuel-cell vehicle to replace the Insight.

The 2005 Accord Hybrid will offer better performance than the current 240hp V6 yet fuel economy similar to a 4-cylinder Civic.
