Toyota can run, but it can't hide from its corporate IOU's

WTF is that fatass talking about? He should STFU. Toyota has no obligation to give Detroit a single damn dime. At least they build their cars INSIDE the US unlike GM/Ford/Dodge who assembles at least their pickups in Canada/Mexico.

That is the lamest thing I've heard.

Or, am I just misunderstanding his gripe? What i got from the article is that Toytota "owes" Detroit money by virtue of Toyota claiming larger share of the auto market. Is that it?

While I don't agree that they should setup shop in Detroit handing out money, I think that they should throw some money around in the towns they have plants in which they do appear to be doing.

I do agree with you though, they don't "owe" Detroit anything.

Am I misreading the article? Is he suggesting that since the Big 3 automakers have a presence in Detroit, then Toyota has an obligation to follow suit and set up shop there as well? Hopefully I simply misread.

Uh, that is stupid. Toyota already gave me something, a great car that was made in the US by US workers. My current car, on the other hand, is a Ford. It's a good car, and it was made in Canada. Who cares? Not me 🙂

Thank you.

The "big 3" domestic (which now includes Toyota oddly enough) builds their cars in Canada and Mexico.

Honda Accord = Marysvillve, OH

Toyota Camry = Georgetown, KY

You can't get anymore "American" than that.

IS it me, or does that guy have no neck? Well, I guess that's what happens WHEN YOU HAVE NO SPINE! 😉

I don't understand why he thinks Toyota has the obligation to give money.
What if Toyota had a successful sales year. That's through quality cars and great marketing strategy.

General mass of the Toyotas are built in the US and they're using American workers. Can't say that much about GM/Daimler/Ford.

If they can't make a profit, it's their fault for putting out crappy cars ( not all ) and poor marketing strategy. I do believe domestic cars are overpriced ( Sunfire being one ).

If Toyota does give money... then all the power to them for their generosity.
Toyota doesn't have a plant based in Michigan do they ?

Last time I heard.. the a lot of the people from Motor City was against Import cars.
