Toy Story made with bryce 3d?!?!?!?

Pixar builds and operates it's own-house programs, some are based on Maya though.

No professional 3d studio would take Bryce seriously. That "n00b" you know is a moron.

Each frame used up 300 megabytes of data -- the capacity of a good-sized PC hard disk

Hehe.... so it took 300 computers back then, how many would it take now on highend systems? I

Probably 2k (2048x1536) and possibly 4k (3840x2400). Also, I am pretty sure that Toy Story was modeled using Maya, and I know for sure that it was rendered using Pixar's own software, Renderman.

3 hours per frame with 24 frames per second (or something like that). Man 75 hours per second. I remember seeing how they made the video for "money for nothing." They used many many computers and that was in 1980 and very low rez.

They model(or did model) characters/geometric shapes with Maya, but like you said everything else is custom inhouse programs like marrionetts(sp?).
