Towing options for sedan?

Got an older Maxima. My car does have a tranny cooler, so it would hopefully be able to haul loads a little better. I know I can get a towing hitch of some kind (class 1 = up to 2k lbs), but was wondering what the experiences anyone had with installing such things with sedans. U-Haul does this stuff all the time, but anyone throw in some input on doing this safely?

I wouldn't be looking to move a lot all the time -- it would just be for moving the occassional furniture/larger objects here and there. Any real moving would be done by renting a real vehicle, but it would be great to be able to do it for smaller stuff a little more easily.

Years ago, I had an Accord sedan with a hitch on it. I pulled a small utility trailer with it while moving, heck even a small pop-up camper. As far as trailer costs goes, around here a decent used single-axle 5'x8' trailer can usually be had for ~$325.
