Towels and fabric conditioner

I've bought some towels.

Feeling a bit flush I bought the most expensive ones in the local department store - mainly because they were the softest ones. And, they really are the softest and most absorbent towels I've ever used.

I want to keep them that way. But I've heard some stuff about fabric conditioner ruining towels, and that you should't use it.

I don't know the answer but I use it on everything that touches my body.

How does it ruin them?

Fabric conditioner makes towels less absorbent.

This has been my experience as well.

I wash all my towels in a seperate load and don't use fabric conditioner on them.
