I used to work with someone who had tourette's. It varies from person to person. He didn't flip out and start punching himself, and his swearing outbursts were very rare. He did twitch from time to time though.

Good for you/your uncle. Two of my friends have Tourette's. One is only affected by slight eye-twitching, no swearing problems.

The other one has ordered a "McWhoreson QuarterF***er with cheese, a**hole" and has no other physical signs.
