Toughbook w2

Anyone ever used one of these or read any reviews? What do you think of this notebook? Thinking of purchasing one of these. I like the size and the fact it has a cd burner as well. Just not sure how good Panasonics are. Any info you have is appreciated. Thanks.

The toughbooks I have seen have great build quality. They seem to be expensive for the performance they give, but again, you also get great build quality, a machine you can be a little less careful with.

Yeah, thats what I'm looking for. Want something for school, something i can just toss in my backpack and not have to worry about hurting it. I have a desktop to play video games so it's not a big deal the video card on it. But I love the size, and the fact I can still watch DVDs etc on the road.

Got this thing yesterday, I'm definatelly impressed. Battery lasted 7.5 hours before i had to recharge! Quality is great also, feels nice and light but sturdy at the same time. Thing is super tiny as well, should work perfect for me.

You have to post specs and how well it runs...like for games, synthetic scores, etc. I am also interested in those.

This thing runs great, I've been using it for 4 hours straight now and still at 60% battery life. :-D It looks sweet too.. here is a translated japenese review. It gives you the gist of it. I doubt you'd be able to play HL2 great on it, but if you want a awesome ultraportable with a built in cd-rw this thing is for you.

ItsPat, Do u find the W2 as a capable desktop replacement for non-gamers? The T40 is very close. I am not sure I can stand a 12.1 screen if it's my only computer. Living in a studio, I've decided that a desktop or even a monitor to hook up my laptop to is a waste of space. Right now, My T40 (SXGA+) is filling this task very well.

I wouldn't say it is a desktop replacement, unless you hooked up a monitor to it and a keyboard. I have a desktop at home that I use for gaming, I would of gotten a T40 most likely if I didn't have my desktop.

wow..

do you have any pic available? ..

and you paid $2200 for the laptop.. right?

i'm really stuck inbetween W2 and Sony TR1A .. and fujitsu P5000 ...

saw sony and fuji in person.. but haven't had chance to look at w2 at all 😛

I don't have any pics of mine, but if you go to this link: Text
They have plenty of pics of it. I really like it, really sturdy feeling and REALLY light. When you look at it you would think it would weigh so much more. Everytime I pick it up I am amazed. It's construction and design are really good also. W2 is definatelly nicer then the fujitsu P5000, I looked at that one also. Didn't check on the Sony though.

browsed couple review sites and forums..

seems like w2 vs fuji p5k ...

it's really confusing because if you want lowest price.. fujitsu is way to go

if you want really the smallest laptop.. i say sony tr1a

if you need laptop in the middle of the pack.. i say w2.

it all comes down to which way i want to go the most... arg!!
