This is a really tough decision. They will come out to about the same price I beleive with one 6600GT, so the question is which one is a better setup for someone who wants a reasonable longterm computer. The NForce 4's future stuff like PCIe, SLI, SATA II, ActiveArmour, etc. are really attractive to the longterm user. The NForce 3 is attractive because has same performance for less money, and I love the idea of softmodding a 6800nu, I know its not ensured, but I think with the new Riva Tuner it has become a more likely than not, and everyone is getting that 6th vertex shader(not that that matters a whole lot, but is still something). So basically I would get more performance now with NForce 3, but less future-proofing.
Anyone have an opinion on which setup is better?
Edit: other specs of what I will be getting:
Have:
21 inch Dell CRT
Getting:
3000+ 90nm - $179 - (planning to OC to 2.6)
1gb(512x2) PQI Turbo pc 3200 2-2-2-5 - $245
Forton 530W p/s - $80 -
Ahanix x195 Black Knight - $50
