Just like how when an American dies..... it makes CNN in about 10 minutes. Yet thousands of Africans die every day from AIDS..... but hey..... their lives don't matter.

This is the biggest load of horse shlt I have ever read in my life, and it truly epitomizes the sentiment of someone utterly ignorant. Do you want to know a little about the situation in South Africa in terms of AIDs? Let's talk about the leader of South Africa, Mbeki, who has my vote for the stupidest political leader except for Mugabe. He has actually publicly stated that AIDs doesn't kill, and there is no link between HIV and AIDs. Sure, AIDs doesn't kill, you die from another desease because of your low immunity, but that is like saying if I shank you, you don't die of the blade wound, you die of bleeding to death. He has alsy denied AIDs funding and care in Africa, stating that there is no epidemic and there is no problem.

Before we can do anything to help Africa, Africa has to admit they have a problem. I lived in South Africa for a while, and the situation is sad. There are actually 4 month old babies that are being gang raped because of beliefs that having sex with a virgin will cure your HIV. This hasn't even been denounced by the government! Baby rape is a daily occurance, yet they don't want to admit it. Get your facts straight before you mouth off, you are nothing but a typical American ignoramus that likes to talk about compassion, then doesn't have the compassion for the newspaper enough to get aquainted with facts.

As for the money issue, this has nothing to do with worth of life...it has to do with me paying for their procedure. I wouldn't expect to go to Mexico and in their benevolency pay for my surgeries. Vicente to probably tell me to fvck off. Get a life

BTW: If that girl was an American citizen and paying taxes, I wouldn't have a problem with it...nothing to do with worth of life...go ahead make it an issue

It's ironic that the family has refused to donate any of the dead girl's organs. :(

Illegal immigrants should not be entitled to medical attention without prepayment (by themselves or their country's government). Illegal immigrants should not be entitled to any taxpayer funded service, including public education. (How many illegal immigrants have their public schooling funded by your tax dollars in CA, AZ, TX, and FL?) Is that harsh? yes, but it's a question of legality, not of humanity. The US takes many immigrants (regardless of skill or education level) each year. Why should all the citizens and legal residents have to pay for everyone else. The US also needs to amend it's citizenship law, so that children born of anyone who is not a legal resident (citizen or permanent resident, but not students, tourists, diplomats, etc.) are NOT entitled to US citizenship. Why? that would prevent illegals coming to the US and having a child, who becomes a US citizen, and then the parents can't be deported. (For reasons of welfare to the child who is a US citizen). This is not harsh, this is reality, this is what other countries employ. My children were born in Australia, but are not, and will never be, entitled to Autralian citizenship because I was on a student visa, and thus not a permanent resident. It is the American policy of being lenient toward illegals, for humane reasons, that is being abused. The laws need to be changed.

I'm $#%$#ing divided because in cases like the girl that had the bad transplant, the medical care in her own country is so piss-poor that her family had no choice but to come to the U.S.

See heres my beef with that. If I had the same condition, even being an american citizen, I would have likely of died. I would have never been put at the top of the list. Nor would I ever be able to afford the surgery. Considering its 50/50 chance for success with 30% of people dieing in the first year, and another 40% by their 5th year post transplant. Im sorry, Im no torn its our(US tax payers) money, we have enough problems without illegal aliens stealing it.

Sure - my porsche driving doctor with 9-4 hours (and a 1.5 hour lunch) is really getting killed financially. If someone fvcks up, they should pay the price.

Come to TX or go to the east coast. Most Drs bringing home less than 1/4 of their gross pay after paying taxes, and insurance premiums. FYI, dont get head trauma in Dallas, your ass will be SOL. The neurosurgeon that was responsible for 1500 ER trauma patients a year resigned, and the other area hospitals cant pick up the slack.

Alot of OBGYNs have quit being OBs and are just GYNs.

What people don't understand is the amount of time spent and work done to get to that point. Even still, I'd say only 1-2% of doctors have that kind of lifestyle, the rest are working 60-80 a week after having investing 10 years of the prime of their lives in Med School/ Residency Programs to care for ungrateful people who complain about high physicians' salaries. These morons will keep suing and one day come back crying when they can't get medical care anymore. I think a doctor that has been shown to be willfully negligent should get sued and have his/her license revoked, but sometimes honest mistakes can happen, and they can be due to errors in any part of the system - nurses, prep workers, surgeons, hospital procedure loopholes etc. Maybe one should construct a 100% foolproof robot to handle all of one's medical care.

AMEN

alot of time goes into what doctors do. not everyone can be a doctor, thats why they are paid so high. one flitch in surgery can mean certain death.
not to mention working near a decade in schooling. if ya don't like them getting paid so much. then by a band-aid and fix your own damn wounds.

Who cares about her being an illegal, shes a human being. Most of you seem heartless. I can imagine seeing most you just pass by a bum who was shot just because hes dirty.
