Seriously, all you guys blaming the parents are retarded. Their mistake had nothing to do with their son's death. CLEARLY something is horribly wrong when prisoners being transferred in a motor vehicle are able to seriously assault and kill each other without the driver noticing. Or was the driver aware and unable to do anything about it--did he not have a gun? Like hello, these motherfvckers are being transported on public streets, and if the driver can't keep them under control then what's to stop them busting loose? Those morons shouldn't have been with the kid, let alone in a privately contracted vehicle. Those guys should've gone to jail in the back of a police cruiser.

I bet you if the story had read "teen takes car without permission and hits, kills toddler" y'all would be screaming that his parents are responsible for not being harder on the kid.

The kid has a criminal record now.. that'll show up in future background checks for jobs.

His parents have ruined alot of potential job opportunities because the kid 'took' their car.

i think you're overlooking something even more important...

Your personal insults notwithstanding, if you apply the 'but for' test used in the legal system to determine liability, the teen would not have been beaten but for the parents' abuse of the legal system. (Granted, the liability analysis fails when you get to where the parents could not have forseen the intervening action of the other transferees, but the fact reamins ths teen would not have been in custody in the first place if not for the actions of the parents.)

If you are acting up with known murderers in a van then you get whatever's coming to you. People don't get murdered for not doing anything. It's called common sense and many who don't have it have faced hardships and yes, even death. ;)
