what cpu to get?????? options are 1.8a p4 or amd xp(????+) , i know what boards to get already... p4s533 if p4 and msi kt ultra if xp... i want a cpu that'll be faster than my other xp rig.. unlocked 1800+ oc'd to 1900+ on an ecsk7vta3 board.. 256mb 333ddr kingmax.... what suggestions can u give me? xp owners... do t-breds really run cooler than palominos? i dont really wna spend extra on cooling.. just a good hsf and fan... thats it.. no water cooling.. w/c cpu will give me the best results?? thnks

P4's are hands down the best chip out when it comes to ocing which it appears you will try...Wait and see if jtdragon gets a sl68q 1.8a and if so go buy one from newegg...I had one hit 2.628ghz the other day with near 400mhz ddr....that will beat pretty much any xp barring a rare 1900-2000mhz oc....Got to www.tomshardware.com and se the athlon 2200+ review and see how a 2380+ xp fared which would be close to that rare oc...2.53ghz still beat it in majority of apps and as long as you get 400mhz ddr you should be comparable to the scores of p4 systems listed.


Who told you to get the p4s533 mobo??? Because it is not the best ocing mobo other then mem ratios alone....

Tbreds are not going to run cooler at the core than Palominos if the cooling setups are the same. The Tbred core does put out a little less heat, but has a much smaller surface area with which to dissipate it. There is less heat being produced by the CPU, so the case will have a little less heat to dissipate, but expect the core temp to be higher.
