I had a really talented guy quit to take a 20% raise. Two years later that company fell on hard times and he got laid off. That was four years ago and he hasn't had a good job since then.
That company was known for paying big when they were busy, then cutting everyone loose when they weren't. We don't pay as much but bend over backwards to keep people on during the slow times.
