I have a baseball trivia question that so far has stumped everyone I know.

Rickey Henderson recently became the second MLB player to steal a base in four separate decades. Who was the first?

I will give hints if needed.

Ya I think its Aaron too. Hmmm, I'll post the next question: Who is the ONLY baseball player to ever hit home runs from both sides of the plate in the same INNING? I happened to watch this specific game on TV, theres one hint.

Holy cow, I looked it up (it's not Aaron, BTW) and I couldn't believe it. I wouldn't have guessed him if I had 100 guesses. Or even 521 guesses.

Another odd trivia question: Who was the last team to hit back-to-back in-the-park homeruns in a game?

Oh, must be Ted Williams ;)

Dang your good. You must have heard that one before. The game was against my Yanks, and both pitchers hit the next guy. Next trivia: who was that guy? j/k ;).

You're right; it's the Splendid Splinter (Ted Williams). Very tough to guess. If you look at his stats, he basically stole one base in the 1939 and the 1960.

Kranky, how did you look it up? What site can do that kind of search?

weshuang, I got lucky. I went to google and put in "stolen base four decades" and the second hit showed the answer in the preview - I didn't even have to go to the site! :)

I figured that using the "521 guesses" reference would let you know I found the answer without blatantly giving it away. (Didn't fool jaydee, though!)

But if you are interested in a wonderful baseball stats database, visit Sean Lahman's site. You can search on his site or download the whole database to manipulate and search any way you want. That's where I found that Ted Williams stole an average of 1.3 bases a season!

Kranky,

1.3 bases per season, LOL! That will be a great 'hint' for the next person I stump with that trivia question!
