They're bloody great.

At work we have got a set of touch screen Dells with Win8.1. Its great. Touch screen and discrete keyboard is the way forwards I think.

After using one for a couple of days I find myself naturally reaching out to touch my own (admittedly old, crappy touchless) laptops screen and being disappointed when nothing happens.

We recently got some Apples too, and I found myself doing the same, especially as the dock and launchpad really lend themselves towards touch screens.

Its become habit so quickly I think all new laptops really need it. I know I won't now consider replacing my laptop with something thats not touch screen.

Just thought I'd share the good news with people :)

ive wondered this myself, cuz i was thinking about getting a chromebook and for the same price you can get a touchscreen acer or a nontouch anythingelse. i thinking touch is maybe a little more efficient than a cursor, and maybe after having touch you wouldnt want to go back. on the other hand, it feels a little unnatural to touch a screen on a laptop with a keyboard

I keep the touch screen on my laptop disabled. A necessity since I compulsively wipe specks of dust off of mine.

Touchscreen on a laptop is neat at first but is tiring and not that useful once the novelty wears off. Having to take your hand off from the keyboard to reach and touch the screen is annoying. And windows 8.1 still sucks even with touchscreen.

You know what's really nice on a laptop? Great touchpad. Something I have yet to find on a Windows laptop. Apple and Google understand this. Microsoft, I'm not so sure. My cheap HP Chromebook 14 trackpad is leagues better than the trackpad on my Lenovo Yoga 13 laptop.

Windows 8 style touchscreen that centers around big giant retard buttons = useless.

However, doing more intricate work with a stylus instead of a touchpad can be a huge improvement. For me, this is a huge thing for working on cars. Running Win-based diag software, I can 1) do everything quickly and 2) never actually touch the computer with my frequently-dirty hands.

If you're reaching up to smudge the screen with your fingers on a touchscreen laptop, you're doing it wrong.

thats for sure. one reason touchscreens are appea;ing is cuz of the generally crappy response of window touchpads. apples touchpads and scrolling are perfect

I use the touchscreen on my Y2P almost exclusively; can't see myself going back to something without it.

Screen smudge has never been an issue. Probably shouldn't be to anyone that washes their hands regularly and takes showers. Even if something is left behind, its not visible with the screen on.

i have a nice touchscreen laptop too and recommended them to people as well. some people really likes Apple and were amazed Apple doesnt have any touchscreen laptop/pc. hard to believe myself.
sometimes just touching it is faster or more convenient than sliding the mouse cursor around.

the 1080p option on my latitude only came with touchscreen. The other choice was a 1366 x768 which is ass. So I got the 1080p touch. I use it a lot more than I thought I would

I have a Dell touchscreen laptop and I like it well enough. I don't think it is amazing, but I do appreciate it.

I typically only use the touchscreen when using apps such as news readers or photo galleries. For regular internet surfing or working in MS Office, I hardly touch the scree.

a great trackpad > sex

Lordy no, especially the ripoffs of Apples where the right-click is a touch zone. Apples single click touchpad is infuriating as well. When I work with laptops I plug in a USB mouse, so much more efficient.

Touch screens are for tablets.

What's wrong with Apple's touch pad? You can right-click by pressing with two fingers (anywhere on the pad).
