Touchpad won't work after resuming from standby

I'm on a notebook - hp pavilion zd7000, 3.0 ghz on 512mb, geforce go5700...

(I thought I'd list any specs I thought might be relevant)

The problem is (and I've come across this on other forums - just can't remember where), whenever I put this thing on standby and allow it to resume, my touchpad loses some of its functionality. I can still move the cursor with it after I resume, but I can't tap the pad to select anymore. It works just fine when I restart the comp. Any solutions for this? Thanks in advance!

 
Yes, I have. I found nothing relevant on their site and got no relevant feedback from them either...

I don't think it's exclusively an HP thing either, seeing as how I've come across IBM Thinkpad owners wrestling with the same issue...
