I want a mouse that can double as a touchpad. That is, using the surface instead of moving the mouse. Which touch mice, if any, can be used as a touchpad and not just for gestures?

For example, I'm pretty sure the Logitech T620 doesn't fit the bill.

Can the Apple thing really be used as touchpad? (Looks like the answer is yes: http://superuser.com/questions/90962/magic-mouse-turn-it-into-a-touchpad). Well, good for Mac people. :)

The Logitech stuff is only for gestures, though I wonder if it's a software limitation rather than hardware.

The only thing I'm highly certain fits the bill is the Asus VivoMouse, but it's expensive, no used ones on eBay. Since I'd rather stick to one USB receiver the only option I have appears to be Logitech T650 and giving up on a idea of a combined mouse/touchpad.

I really like my t650 at work. But that's ONLY because I don't use my m605 on the same system. If I did, I wouldn't be able to switch back and forth as easily.

I HATE the Setpoint software when it comes to mice. It screws up the scrolling and the tracking. However, it's crucial to have it for the trackpad, and my k810 (I like Logitech products generally) keyboard.

Bloated drivers/software for input devices is indeed an annoyance. Too bad Microsoft hasn't given more attention to more standardization and features in the stock drivers.

(Like my laptop's Elan touchpad drivers. Zillions of versions, mostly from laptop vendors and not directly from Elan, no clear versioning scheme, no changelog, different options visible/possible in different variants, different acceleration profiles and so different feels, etc. Had to cross check registry settings and try to figure out the registry format for the gesture settings. After I've manually enabled the options I wanted and registry-configured some per-app gestures I've given up, for now, on trying to find the version or settings that had the better tracking feel. Drivers shouldn't be a chore.)
