TOTP authenticators - which do you use for windows/android?

I found out that some 2FA authenticator apps either do not encrypt their data or rely on on a weak OS credentialing scheme(Windows) which opens up the secret keys to other rooted apps. Freeotp and google authenticator for example keeps the keys in the clear which can be retrieved easily.

Are there any free alternatives to winauth for the pc?
