Me: "Gee officer...um, I was watching the road and stuff, but suddenly, in front of my path, there was another vehicle where there had not been one just moments before."

Officer Burly: Hmm. I see, numbnuts. What is all that equipment and wires there?

Me: Um...it's our LAN.

Officer Burly: Your what?

Me: Um, can I go now, please?

Ack. Unaware cellphone drivers are bad enough. I don't want to have to compete with people trying to type stuff into Trillian/ICQ/IRC/AIM to boot.

Hey, I was in my car the other day and needed to find a phone number. I had my girlfriend fire up my PocketPC Phone Edition and connect to GPRS, and look it up via yellowpages.com, and dial it right from the page. THAT'S cool. :)

Need some kind of HUD screen that overlays the windshield. Curious -- would that make drivers more or less alert? I mean, if I'm in the middle of fraggin' zombies, I might be more inclined to not zone out...

Uh, many police cars can communcate car to car via computer, and can access the FBI database...so, whats this hype about?

The scary part is that I found this project to be so cool. Dam. Geekfactor = geekfactor + 1.

IIRC, the USAF F-22 Avionics already does this. Fly a squadron of F-22 on a mission where one F-22 concentrates on navigating the squadron to the target, another F-22 concentrates on detecting ground threats, another one concentrates on neutralizing them, another one maintains the link with headquarters, etc. Then they all share data and work as a team. Cool stuff...

If you were really a geek, you'd have just said geekfactor++

That wouldn't do the same thing. He doesn't want to postincrement geekfactor, he wants a new variable Geekfactor that's 1 greater than geekfactor.

IF you were really a geek, you'd notice that Geekfactor and geekfactor are two different variables :)

If I was retired with nothing to do, this is what I would do :)
