If you buy, you get $5 off a game on the 2011 list. Shogun 2 is on that list, so if you can find another game on that small list you like instead, the game drops to $5.

Was thinking of Patrician IV, but not sure how good it is.

Looks like you could buy Chess for $1.40 and get the $5 for Shogun 2, which means you paid $6.40 for both games instead of $10 for Shogun 2.

Wow I feel like I got ripped off now. Haven't even played it, but paid full price. I should start spending my money on taking some 'being patient' classes. No wonder I fail at the stock market.

I feel like Amazon is upping their game(no pun).. I see more deals on digital downloads than retail copies. I am pretty happy with the developments taking place.

Still waiting for a good deal on Cities XL...not really sold on it. Still stuck waiting for a SimCity replacement :\

Would that $5 coupon work on Cities XL 2011?

The promotion is effective in January, now this month.

Can you test for me if the code applies to either Cities XL '11 or '12 digital download?

No, since the codes aren't valid until January. :)

As of this moment however, Cities XL 2011 is on their 2011 Best Seller's list, so hypothetically it will work. Though honestly I'd just wait till the Steam Winter Sale and pick it up for stupid cheap there.

So that chess game is still a good investment, or so would any game under $5 be since come January your basically getting those games for free since you get a unique promo code for each purchase.

Does that sound about right?

Only if they don't jack up the prices for those games.

Depends who you ask :) I've looked at the "Which is the best TW game" and I've gotten anywhere from Rome, to Shogun and Medieval 2.

Not many though mentioned Napoleon... so...who knows.

The Amazon Shogun 2 download syncs to Steam, yes?

Same question for me :)

Yeah Shogun 2 uses steamworks. In fact all the total war games do. I think Amazon has updated all their product descriptions to include a bullet that says a steam account is required. It's usually on the bottom. Much better than before when you had no way of knowing for sure. What's worse is there's some games like M&B Warband that can be activated on Steam but only if they have a certain cd key format. Most copies of the game won't activate on Steam.

Thats all I needed to hear. I've been wanting to pick up Shogun II for a while now, but after the dismal Empire, I didn't want to pay full price. Nice sale from Amazon.
