I'm in the minority, don't buy a laptop! You'll mostly browse the net or play solitare, I prefer good note taking and hornbooks to get me the A, from which I form outlines. OUTLINE, OUTLINE, OUTLINE! I never did it, but when I started to 2nd year it got me As. So learn from my mistake and do it first year.

My favorite quick and dirty hornbook series is the Understanding series from Lexis, esp the ones for Crim Law and Crim Pro. For Con Law get Chemerinsky, it'll save your but. Same advice goes for you SSibalNom :)

ah yes, that is why im working on getting a H/PC so it wont do much but type! as far has hornbooks, I must look into those, all my teachers always say "no canned briefs they are bad for u!" but if theyre helping you get A's they must be workin!

I'm not a fan of the canned briefs that much. But I like books that explain things, what classes are you taking right now SSibalNom?

I got really good grades in evidence with a canned brief, and in Con Law with the Chemerinsky hornbook (if you're taking Conlaw you MUST buy the Chemerinsky book).

It's not too late too apply to med school.

Seriously;
be prepared for the Socratic Method from day 1.
Try not to freak out that your entire semester grade will most likely be based on a single 3 hour exam.
Use commercial outlines but don't depend on them fully.
At least try to do your own outlines.
Learn how to 'book-brief',.... after the first semester.
IRAC is your friend.
Get a professor's prior exams and practice.
People usually start studying for exams about 4-6 weeks before the final.
Cramming only very rarely will get you a passing grade.

Make it through the 1st year and you should be ok. I don't think schools want to drop a lot of admitted students, that is why the have admission requirements/process.

Elfenix, well I'm just telling you what it's like here. Many law students already have undergrads here and have moved beyond binge drinking... Engineers on the other hand, not so much.

binge drinkers are once or twice a month getting completely f-ed. law students are just drunk all the time
