Yeah that's more like a capacitor. I bet these could be made into a nasty bomb that would go right through TSA. - Hypothetically of course.

Not only does it recharge fast but it doesn't appear to lose capacity as rapidly as other rechargeables.

The battery has a long life cycle, losing only 1% of capacity after 1,000 cycles of discharging and recharging

The demo battery was only 600mAH. Hopefully they'll be able to apply the same technology to larger batteries.

 
HEHE, I remember in the early/mid '80s when I had a 6 speaker boombox and 12 NICD batteries, which would only last an hour or so and needed like 24hrs to recharge, I had taken an extension cord (DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS!!!) and clipped the leads, plugged the cord into the socket and very fast, and I mean FAST, touched the exposed wire to each NICD and with in a few seconds instant recharge. ahhh, those were the days. 🙂
