Toshiba X770 stops charging while gaming?

Hey everyone, I've searched everywhere but I didn't find anyone with a problem like mine, I hope someone here can help me, here is my issue:

I own a Toshiba Qosmio x770 for 3 and a half years now, and lately I've been having problems while gaming, what's happening is that it simply stops charging after a few minutes of gaming, the problem is not the battery because I've tried removing it and the PC just shuts down instantly, which means the charger stops providing energy somehow, if I disconnect the cable and reconnect it again it resumes but in the next moment it stops again...

Could this be from the charger? Or the PC? I'm trying with a different charger this weekend, but somehow I doubt that will be the problem...

Note that this only happens while gaming, however it doesn't happen with all of them I don't think the problem is if the game is graphic demanding, since it happens with Far Cry 4, but also with Left 4 Dead 2 and it doesn't happen on Max Payne 3, or Dark Souls 1 for instance...

Obviously I'm out of warranty and the Toshiba Tech support sucks, because I've had bad experiences with them before. So please if anyone knows something please help!
Cheers

When you exit out of the game, does it resume charging? If you have a full battery, can you game on just battery power?

Thanks for your reply,
Yes it does resume when I exit the game, and yes I can game with just the battery power, but as you surely know it only lasts like 20 min or so.
One detail I forgot to mention: the PC power button, which is red when turned on, turns off the light whenever this event (stoping the charge) occurs....

Sounds like your battery is almost gone then. The power has to go through the battery when it is in. One test would be to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, and see if it will play your games without the battery in. If it plays games ok, it's probably the battery. If it doesn't, it probably the charger IMO.

If you keep it plugged in while gaming, I wouldn't really worry about the battery charging if that is the only issue.

Power brick is going (charger). When you game your laptop is drawing more power than the brick can provide so the battery is discharging.
All your troubleshooting points to that.

If you read my first post you'll see I've already done that, without the battery, the PC just turns off instantly, once again only while gaming otherwise it's ok.

The battery lasts almost 2h when not gaming, otherwise it will go out in like 20 min but I'm used to that... But this PC had already had some weird problems that's why I'm in doubt that the problem will be the charger, but I will try with another one tomorrow and I'll tell you how it went... Anymore sugestions?

I did read that, but it sounded like you were taking the battery out with the laptop powered on[/quote]

Squeetard's observation is worth considering. Have you been looking at the power bar when gaming since you first bought the laptop?

Like checking the battery charge while gaming? No... I never found any reason to do so... Yet in the beggining the battery could last up to an hour of gaming like Crysis 2 and stuff like that, now, not so true....

Sounds like your power supply could be going bad.

I wonder how many thunder storms it has been through.

Is your power supply plugged into the wall or is it protected with either power strip or a battery backup? If you do not have one then today would be best time to buy one on black friday.

This sounds like normal battery wear then. I know that for me it isn't even that noticeable until the battery goes down a good bit.

I think its a mix as many latptops can run without battery but his does not run so I say this is a double whammy. Bad power supply and old battery.

It may be, but the only thing that's pissing me off is really not being able to play at all, cause it stops receiving power, let's hope a new power supply will do the trick....

So I've got good news and bad news... Good news is that the problem was the power supply since nothing happened when I tried with another one...
Bad news is that another problem came up....
Now all of a sudden I get blue screens after like 20 min of gaming, the code is always the same:
Stop: 0x00000116 and the file nvlddmkm.sys, which has to do with the nvidia graphics card, after the blue screen the PC reboots as usual and when I try to run any game, such as Far Cry 4 or Assassins Creed Unity it says my graphics card does not support Directx 11 which is BS. If I let the PC rest for a while, reboot and try again it will eventually work again, only to crash at another blue screen in the same conditions as before.
I suspect the cause is overheating... I'm screwed here right? The best thing I can do is to take it to a shop i guess....

I'd blow thru the vents with compressed air a few times, update the nvidia drivers, and maybe get a cool pad to set it on.

The drivers are already updated, they update automatically with geforce experience, the cool pad I already use as well, since the beggining because this PC feels like a stove, blowing the air vents is something I usually do, although it has been quite a while since the last time I've done it, yet I doubt that will solve the problem.
Thanks for the tips anyway
