Toshiba vs. Pioneer

I hope I am posting this in the right forum...

Here's the deal: I have Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1712 and it's been working okay for the past 6 months or so. I bought Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D today and the problems occur. I've made a few DVD compilations and while they all work normal in the DVD RW, Toshiba DVD-ROM reports CRC errors on some files all the time! It's the same files every time, although it can sometimes actually copy some of them. I tried copying the files from command prompt (with xcopy) and - Toshiba reads and copies the files normally now!

What's wrong with it? It only fails when I try copying in Windows Explorer while command prompt does it okay. Some of those files were .avi files, so when I tried playing them in Media Player, it also reports CRC error. In the same time, the same .avi file plays okay via Pioneer writer.

Will those DVDs work okay only on my writer or is my Toshiba incompatible for some reason? Any help would be GREATLY appriciated! Thanks!

EDIT: Btw, I used NERO 6 to burn the DVDs. Also, Toshiba is the master drive, while Pioneer is its slave on the same IDE cable.

EDIT 2: One file reported CRC error in command prompt this time as well. Still, the same file can be copied normally via Pioneer.
