Toshiba SD-M1402 DVD Drive...

Hey folks,

I put together a machine the other day and was wondering/concerned about the DVD player. It's a Toshiba SD-M1402. When I put in a disc it starts to spin up then stops/hesitates then starts back up again then goes through fine. Does anyone else here have this DVD drive? Is this normally the way it functions or should I be worried.

A friend of mine mentioned that it might be because a DVD uses two different mechanisms for CD and DVD and that maybe it tries to read it as a DVD first. Once it realizes that it is not a DVD it stops then puts the CD mechanism in place and starts to spin again. I dont know. Sounds very possible to me.

Any help would be appreciated. I really hope I dont have to send this thing back.

Thanks,

-Kevin
