Toshiba SD-M1401 or Pioneer DVD-305S

Has anybody had experience with either drive? I can get the Pioneer for around $122 and the Toshiba for about $155.

They are both scsi dvd rom 10x dvd 40x cdrom. Specs on the Pioneer look a little better. Does anybody know anyplace that has reviewed either drive?

I am going to put them in a computer matched up with a Plextor 12/10/32 scsi cd-rw. Should this work OK? Does anybody forsee any problems? Everbody usually says go scsi if you can afford it. I can't, but I am😉 I'll be Ok until the wife sees the bank account balance, or lack of balance.

I don't mind paying a little extra for the scsi. I already have a card. I am more concerned about these drives being able to read different types of cd's--like ones that I burn, etc. Any input will be much appreciated. Am ordering tomorrow.

Tough choice. I;ve had good luck with Toshiba. But my home theater DVD player is a Pioneer that I also have had great luck with. I would go for the Toshiba I guess.
