Toshiba Satellite 2410-CTX Operating System Change

Does anyone know if my Toshiba Satellite 2410-CTX notebook has the OS locked into the BIOS? It came with Windows XP Home, and I really want to put XP Pro on it and install everything myself.

I don't want to have the HDD lock out on me, I just want to make sure I can change the OS without any problems.

Have you checked the FAQ on Toshiba's web site? I have seen that they offer some special files there for people that want to change from the pre-installed OS. If your machine is still in warranty, read over the fine print. Sometimes changing the OS will affect the warranty re. support.

I have sucessfully installed both 2k and XP on a variety of toshiba laptops with 98 or XP preinstalls. I have never had a problem with lock out, just running from the install cd and going thorugh the partition/format procedure.

you may need to contact Toshiba for drivers for any of the specific function keys if they dont work
