i want to install pc2100 ram and would like it to use the extra bandwidth of the faster ram

now i check the intel chipset and it does support pc2100 ram.

also can a change the cpu out for say a pent 4 2.4ghz?

I believe DDR PC2100 ram was what they used in that model.
It will accept either 128 or 256 modules.

Also, if I remember correctly, the CPU requires a
mainboard swap.

Good luck trying to get one from Toshiba.
They do not want anyone inside their laptops but their
Authorized Service Centers.
